Sweet! Grabbing this at LL right now.

Cryptical> Cosmic should have been easy to pull off -- not unlike the rarely-played Cryptical> Deal. Neither one required the band to change tempo or even key.

Edit: Wow, that was fast! Well-seeded at LL to say the least.

You'd think Cryptical>Cosmic should have been one of those 'where does one song end & the other begin' pairings, since they could so easily be merged as here, but the Dead chose never to do it like that, instead tending to start Cosmic Charlie from a dead stop. They could've been more inventive about that, I think. (They slow down for it, too - they wanted Charlie to go at a lope, not a gallop. Even here they put some hard brakes on the tempo.)
But I do welcome the addition of the extra melody riff to start the song in 1970. The intros in '69, without it, always sound too rushed as they start singing right away.
